Struggle of Love sees school as more than a place to learn subject matter. For many kids, school is a safe and stable environment where they can access much-needed practical, social, and emotional resources, and connect with community groups. In 2023, SOLF worked to expand its presence in local schools, embedding mentorship and leadership programs in 12 Aurora and Denver Public Schools. Through these partnerships, SOLF engaged over 700 students, resulting in measurable improvements in participants' academic performance, school attendance, and social-emotional well-being.
SOLF’s Spreading Our Love Mentor & Leadership Program is offered both in-school and as an after-school program. A team of eight facilitators leads over 100 hours of programming each month, focused on interactive lessons, courageous conversations, and building relationship skills. One group of students at McGlone and Elevate Academies dedicated themselves to raising their GPAs and preparing for high school—a goal they achieved, setting the stage for continued academic and personal growth.
Outside of school hours, SOLF hosts two Summer of Love Camps annually. Spread across eight weeks in the winter and summer, these high-quality camps include instruction in dance, art, sports, music, mental health service access, and more, and are offered for free to 25 youth each session.
Helping youth grow in compassion, character, and capability is at the heart of Struggle of Love. Each year, the SOLF team eagerly anticipates the remarkable experience of witnessing this transformation unfold.

“We have mentors and tutors who travel to each school site, providing programming for K–12 students every day. This dynamic team has the lived experiences that allow them to relate and connect to those we serve.”
