Since its beginning, Struggle of Love has been committed to meeting the needs of the whole person—addressing their challenges and healing their spirit. Launched in 2021, SOLF invested in an expanding mental wellness program that is tailored to the needs of the community. Today’s programs include:

  • On-site therapy sessions at two locations:

    • 10 free sessions per year

    • Individual wellness, couples therapy, family counseling, and groups

  • Wellness events

  • Resource navigation: weekly walk-in on Tuesdays

  • Community acupuncture detox

  • Yoga

  • Sound therapy

  • Bi-weekly podcast: “The ABC’s of SOL”

Mental health care resource navigation is offered every Tuesday afternoon at SOLF’s satellite location. In the sound studio on East Colfax in Aurora, the SOLF mental health team produces the ABCs of SOL podcast to educate, normalize, and encourage a healthy soul. The hosts and their guests discuss a range of topics—including those that might be deemed too challenging or taboo in traditional spaces.

A new, larger space will allow the program to have a greater presence and reach in the community. Currently running a waitlist for therapy, SOLF hopes to double its team so that six therapists are on staff to accommodate the growing need. “Our LOVE Center is and will continue to be a hub for people to come and be served, to have a safe place to go to and talk with someone they trust,” says LaKeshia. “For a lot of our community members, this is a lifeline. A place of stability and hope.”

“We identify gaps in the community, one being access to mental health services for the BIPOC community.”
